Stem Cell MTS — A Guide to Skin Regeneration Care
Stem cell MTS (micro-needle therapy) uses a roller studded with fine micro-needles (a meso-roller) to create tiny channels in the skin, helping stem cell culture extract and active ingredients penetrate more effectively to support acne clearing and the management of scars and pigmentation. Because acne treatment and scar management call for different approaches, it's helpful to consider them separately.
Managing the large and small scars and pigmentation that can remain after acne is considered an important part of skincare. Below, we outline how MTS works, the recommended treatment interval, and self-care tips at home. Results vary by individual.
What Is Stem Cell MTS?
At our clinic, the procedure is performed with a meso-roller fitted with 2mm needles. Rolling it over the skin naturally helps clear out acne while the tiny channels created allow active ingredients such as stem cell culture extract to penetrate more effectively — this is the basic principle behind the treatment. Ingredients used may include vitamin C ampoules, placenta injection solution, amino acid infusion, and BTX. Applying tranexamic acid for brightening or hyaluronic acid for hydration beforehand may further enhance results. Results vary by individual.
MTS or Fraxel Laser — Which Should You Choose?
Both treatments are used for acne scarring, but aftercare tends to be more demanding with Fraxel laser. In particular, for those with inflammatory (pustular) acne, Fraxel laser treatment may worsen breakouts, which is why our clinic typically recommends MTS in these cases. Since the right treatment depends on each person's skin condition, a consultation is recommended.
Can Acne Scars Improve After a Single Session?
Acne scars are unlikely to show dramatic improvement from a single session. For severe inflammatory acne, follow-up sessions every 2–3 weeks are recommended; for scarring alone, every 3–4 weeks, with consistent ongoing care. Between in-clinic sessions, a home-use meso-roller (0.2mm) may also be used alongside the treatment. Results vary by individual.
What Should I Know Before Getting MTS?
Exfoliation and alcohol disinfection before the procedure are important. If there is excess dead skin or bacteria in the pores, active ingredients may not penetrate well, and inflammation or breakouts can occur afterward. Because this treatment uses micro-needles, there is a possibility of infection, pain, or other side effects, so please be sure to consult thoroughly with a physician before proceeding.
How Can I Manage Acne at Home?
Switching to skincare products formulated for acne-prone skin, exercising to the point of sweating about once a week, cutting back on greasy foods, and avoiding touching your face with your hands can all help. Hands carry a great deal of bacteria, so simply touching your face can make acne worse. It's also a good idea to visit the clinic regularly — even just once a month — to combine acne extraction with ongoing scar management.
